Stop #2 New York and Philadelphia!

Stop #2 New York and Philadelphia!

I just returned from stop #2 on the Fitter and Faster Tour, and once again I had a blast.  We had so many people turn out at our second stop, and got amazing feedback from everyone.  This stop included myself, Matt Grevers, Christine Magnuson, and Mel Stewart! Once again my favorite part was getting up on the blocks and having the opportunity to race the swimmers who came out to see us.  It was also fun to get a chance to talk to the parents and answer their questions about nutrition and workout routines.

After we left the Aquatics Center in New York we took a road trip to Philadelphia to William Penn Charter School for two more sessions of fun and racing! The trip was extra long though because we got caught up behind a big accident that had the entire freeway closed down. Fortunately, we made it! Next stop Chicago!

I usually work on skimming my hands right across the surface of the water as I'm lunging forward. If your hand are above the water you are using too much energy to get them out of the water, and if they are below the surface of the water they are causing drag...so skimming your arms right across the surface seems to work the best. Good Luck!

Hi MeganI have a question regarding breaststroke arm position after the pull and before streamlining. My son has had three coaches and there are differing views. One of them said that it is better to have the hands out of the water pushing out as opposed to the hands being in the water. This is what I used to teach him, but his other two coaches indicated that it is not necessary. What are your thoughts on thisRegards
