What a Great Weekend!

What a Great Weekend!

So the Fitter & Faster Tour has just kicked off and we could not have picked better locations to do it. This last weekend myself and Peter Vanderkaay visited Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon to launch the 2009 Swim Champions Fitter & Faster Tour. It was amazing!

Peter and I were able to connect with swimmers of all ages and help them set goals to reach their dreams in and out of the pool. We also had the opportunity to RACE each and every athlete in the water! For me, that was the highlight. We met a bunch of kids who love the sport and weren't afraid to race anyone--not each other, not me, not Peter. That's what the sport is all about! Swimming fast and having fun!

I'm so, so excited for the rest of the Tour. We have only just begun and we have so many more cities to visit and racers to meet.

Check out the pictures from the Seattle and Portland events!

And see you in your hometown!

Megan and Peter, We had such a fantastic time at the fitter faster clinic held in Portland. Our daughter, Myah has become so inspired after meeting you two. She is eight years old and was terrified of the water until about a year ago when we got her into swim lessons. She just joined the swim team 2 months ago and is one of the fastest on her team for her level. She was overjoyed to race you Megan in the breaststroke as that is her favorite stroke ) We loved all of the positive reinforcements you gave the kids and how you took time with each child individually. I can tell that you both do this because you truely enjoy it. Myah has since put her signed picture and swim cap on her bedroom wall with a dreamcatcher that she made below it and will definately follow her dreams. We will definately bring her back next year and wish you well on the rest of your tour.

Megan and Peter My daughter Ana just participated in the Seattle (afternoon) fitter faster program. As a Mom I wanted to thank you for your time and encouragement in this great program. We were not sure what to expect? We left very pleased and wanting to come again next year! Ana was the smallest in size there and I loved that you both had her join your relay team. You took a situation that could have left her feeling bad (being slower then others) into a highlight for her. Hearing you cheer her on as she swam was just fantastic for us. Thanks again for providing great teaching both in swimming and character. She has dreams of being a future Olympian and it is amazing to me how kind and approachable you both were. How did Ana feel about the day? she said in the car ride home "how can you describe heaven?" Thanks again for the coolest day ever! best of luck to you in your future events. Ana will be watching and cheering you on. Sherri

Dear Megan and Peter, I just got home from the Fitter and Faster Clinic at Mt. Rainier High School. I want to thank you for all of the help and guidance you gave me. I am now more than ever excited about swimming and setting huge goals for myself. Olympics in 2016 doesn't seem unreachable anymore. I am all excited about the upcoming season now. Thank you again for everything. Rowan South Sound Titans aka the guy in the Blue Speedo

Nikki and Scott

Our son just turned 10 two weeks ago. And he's raced for a year and a half with the Titans. He had a great day in Seattle. This was truly transformational for him. He sat us down at dinner Saturday and said "Mom and Dad, I can do this. Let's do it. Here's my goals, help me refine them and help me write a letter to coach so he knows I'm ready to make the big commitment when we start up in the fall. So finally, he saw himself the way we've always seen him and he made the choice to train hard and with purpose. For him, it wasn't about seeing how fast he could go but about what he could learn when he worked with the best. He's already signed up for 2010.Thanks guys!
