Hobbies: I like being outside so whether it is going for a walk or water skiing I love it. I also, enjoy making jewelry, reading a good book, or writing in my journal.

Background in Swimming: Ever since I was a baby, I have loved the water! Some of my earliest memories are from playing in my grandma’s pool. When I turned six, my parents signed me up for a summer swim team, and I loved the sport instantly! Although I did other sports like soccer, cross country, track and field, volleyball, and basketball, swimming was the one for me. I spent my middle school and high school years becoming more and more intense about my sport making double practices with school and social activities in between a regular routine. I eventually made my way to the University of Arizona on a full athletic and partial academic scholarship.

Being a part of the college team helped my swimming success explode! I started training with some of the best swimmers in the world and learning from some of the most experienced and respected coaches in the sport. However, the most significant factors in my college swimming were my teammates. I developed an unbreakable bond and sense of commitment to my team that elevated my performance far beyond any level I could have ever achieved focusing on myself. This year alone, we won a NCAA championship as a team for the first time in school history, I was a member of four NCAA championship relays, won an individual NCAA title in the 100 free, made the 2008 Beijing Olympic team, and won a silver medal as a member of the 4x100 free relay team. Now that I am done with NCAA competition, I eagerly look forward to continuing my swimming career on the national and international levels.
