Career Highlights

 

Gary Hall, Jr. is a unique talent and had a methodical approach to training.  His dry-land training was legendary and led the way for the innovative regimens that the best swimmers in the world practice today.  Hall is the third most decorated American male swimmer in history with ten Olympic medals.  

Gary Hall Jr. was diagnosed in 1999 with Type-1 diabetes. Hall knew the effects of the disease could be life threatening but he did not let that take away from his dreams.  In 2000 and 2004 Hall went on to win four more Olympic medals.  His success and magnetic personality has been recognized by mainstream media, being featured on programs including the "Today Show"; Tonight with Jay Leno"; Regis and Kelly; the View and many others.

Today, Hall serves as a one of the world's most famous advocates for diabetes awareness, education and funding. He has also testified in front of Congress advocating for more funding for diabetes research.w one of the world's most famous advocates for proper diabetes management and patient care 

 

 
 
 
 
Fun Stuff

Hall has long been one of competitive swimming's most colorful personalities. His pre-race routines have included shadow-boxing; an Elvis impersonation; King Kong and others.  He has been known for wearing a boxing robe in lieu of the usual warm-ups and even wore a cape onto the deck at the 2008 Olympic Trials. His eccentricity has won him a great deal of fans.
